I have a question for you. Do you feel different when you dress up? Have you ever felt so excited that no amount of disappointment can fade away your smile?
When you wear the outfit that you searched hours for at a mall in the summers and finally have an occasion to wear it to. The outfit that’s strangely in your favourite colour and matches exactly the one you found on Pintrest. You have watched make-up tutorials to do the perfect winged eyeliner, the tinted cheeks, and what lip shade would bring out your eyes. Trying the hairstyles that go with your look. The night before you wear it, you take out the shoes that compliments the dress, the perfume, the make-up brushes, the bra, all is set for the morning. You become extra sensitive towards your night care routine, the expensive face pack finally gets used, the new towel gets wet to soak the scrubbed off skin. The legs, arms and neck are deeply moisturised. The sleep you get with a smile on your face.
The next morning arrives.
You are wearing an old faded oversized t-shirt and underwear, smudged off mascara, lips without colour, eyes tired and dry, with no more tears left. The moisture is all gone from legs and arms. Sitting in your bed all day looking at the dress you took off, the shoes you threw to get rid off, the bra thrown on the floor, smell of the perfume dominating the air in your room. The look that you were obsessing over for weeks, created and then lost. The excitement turned into despair.
I ask you again, Do you feel different when you dress up? Do you feel that no amount of disappointment can fade away your smile?
